TEDx Comes to Karachi

TEDxKarachi | 4th June 2010

We are glad to share that its now official, we have been issued a TEDxKarachi License by the TED curators for hosting our first TEDxKarachi during the first week in June. Details on date and venue will follow.

The event will be a half day invitation-only session featuring about 6-7 inspirational speakers who will present their ideas based on the 18-minute TEDTalk format. Plans are underway to have complete live web-streaming of the entire session available for those who cannot be accommodated due to space restrictions.

We are delighted that Chris Anderson, the curator of TED, and Jacqueline Novogratz, founder and CEO of Acumen Fund, will be speakers at TEDxKarachi in addition to inspiring speakers from Pakistan.

TEDxKarachi also plans to showcase local talent and is requesting submissions of short films (1-2 minutes) which will be screened in between the talks.

It is also time to introduce the TEDxKarachi team:

  • Asad Rahman – TEDIndia Attendee
  • Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy – TED Fellow
  • Dr. Awab Alvi – TEDIndia Fellow
  • Sumaira Jaffery
  • Batool Hassan, Acumen Fund
